Dogra College of Education organized inter College symposium and poster making competition on the occasion of international women’s day on 07th of March 2020. The theme of the symposium was “The future of feminism”. The programme was held under the supervision of Mrs. Amarjeet Kour, NSS Programme Officer and anchored by Ms. Simran Devi of B.Ed Course (Sem-IV).
Dr. Shefali Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education also addressed the students and emphasized that international women’s day is the time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extra ordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. Participants of the symposium expressed their concern over the various issues and highlighted the problems being faced by the women notably dowry, female foeticide, infanticide, domestic violence and disparity in education. They also emphasized that this day celebrates women’s history highlighting key events, milestones and achievements and aims to further promote and raise awareness of women’s rights and to achieve opportunity status in all walks of life.
Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the efforts of participants and also highlighted the contribution of the various women in past and present. All the faculty members and students were also present on the occasion. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by NSS programme officer, Mrs. Amarjeet Kour.
