Dogra Group of Colleges in collaboration with Dogra Sadar Sabha celebrate 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas

Dogra Group of Colleges viz Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College, Bari Brahmana, Jammu, District Samba in collaboration with Dogra Sadar Sabha, Jammu celebrated 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th of July 2023 in the auditorium at Dogra Educational Complex to commemorate the victory of Indian Armed Forces over intruder Pakistan Army in the year 1999. Indian army duly supported by Indian air force defeated the enemy forces and proudly hoisted the tricolor on top of “Tiger Hill” thus declaring complete “Vijay of Indian Army”. Every year 26 July is celebrated as “Vijay Diwas” in the honour of Kargil war heroes.
The progarmme began with the lighting of traditional lamp and paying floral tributes by the dignitaries to Kargil War Heroes followed by the welcome address given by Mrs. Shivali Mehta, Lecturer DCE. An impressive ceremony was proceeded with a series of heartwarming speeches, patriotic song and poetry recitation by the students of Dogra Group of Colleges that paid homage to the brave soldiers who exhibited unparalleled courage and indomitable spirit during the Kargil conflict.
As a part of the celebration, two minutes silence was observed to honour the memory of martyred soldiers.
On this Occasion, Col. Dr.V.K Sahi, Vir Chakra, Director War, Directorate of India, J&K talked about the significance of Kargil War and told everyone about the valor and sacrifices made by the soldiers. He motivated the students to join the defence forces and serve the nation. Speaking on the occasion, Col. K.S Jamwal, Vice president, Dogra Sadar Sabha glorified the bravery of the soldiers and conveyed his best wishes to the Indian army on this memorable day and extended his heartfelt gratitude for their selfless service to the nation and in maintaining peace and security of the country. Maj. Gen. (Retd) G.S Jamwal, (P.V.S.M) also paid tribute to the war heroes and appreciated the collaboration between Dogra Group of Colleges and Dogra Sadar Sabha for organizing such an event. A formal speech was also given by Mrs. Indu Puri, Lecturer DCE. She stated that we salute the war heroes and will forever remain indebted to our brave soldiers and their families.
Further, a special address was given by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust and President, Dogra Sadar Sabha. In his address, he paid homage to the martyrs of Kargil War and said that Kargil Vijay Diwas brings to the fore the heroic saga of those wonderful brave hearts of India, who will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen. He also emphasized the importance of unity and patriotism, as the entire nation stood together in support of the armed forces.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were – Major Gen. (Retd) Sunita Jamwal, (V.S.M), Prof. Drashana Sharma, Director, DGC&CD, Dr.Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, DCE and Dr. Avdhesh Pratap, Principal DLC. Staff and students of Dogra Group of Colleges were also present during the occasion .A formal vote of thanks was moved by Ms.Aditi Khajuria, Lecturer DCE and programme winded up with the National Anthem.
