IQAC Cell of Dogra College of Education in collaboration with District Institute of Education and Training, Samba (DIET) organized a series of “Extension Lectures”on topic:- “Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) as per NEP 2020”, and “Foundational Literacy and Numeracy: An urgent and necessary prerequisite to learning” on 15th of June, 2023 in the Conference Hall of Dogra Educational Trust. Wherein, 80 students of B.Ed. course, semester – 2nd and 4th were present in the said extension lectures. The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries followed by the welcome address given by Mrs. Vintee Kumari, Lecturer, Dogra College of Education. Mrs. Sarita Sharma, Lecturer and Mrs. Vandana Gupta, Sr. Lecturer, District Resource Group, DIET, Samba were the resource persons on the occasion. In Session – 1, the resource person Mrs. Vandana Gupta, Sr. Lecturer, DIET, Samba delivered her lecture “Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) as per NEP 2020”, and elaborated the National Education Policy, 2020 with a 5+3+3+4 education pattern. She also spoke about the five main pillars of NEP 2020 i.e. Enhancement of capacity, Accessibility, Quality, Fairness and Accountability.
In session -2, the resource person Mrs. Sarita Sharma, Lecturer, DIET, Samba, delivered a lecture on “Foundational Literacy and Numeracy: An urgent and necessary prerequisite to learning” as per NEP 2020 and discussed about the ability to read and write, and perform basic operations with numbers, is a necessary foundation and an indispensable prerequisite for all future schooling and lifelong learning. She further elaborated the domains of development of the child i.e. social, emotional, intellectual and cognitive skills, physical and motor skills and speech and language skills.
In the concluding remarks, Dr. Shefali Sharma, IQAC Coordinator, Dogra College of Education appreciated the view points shared by the resource persons and stated that such kind of extension lectures provide us a very useful platform to exchange information, ideas, and experiences in an effective manner. Prominent among others present on this occasion were Sh. Suresh Khajuria, HOD DIET, Samba, Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and CD, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education and all the faculty members. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Shivali Mehta, lecturer, Dogra College of Education, who thanked the esteemed resource persons for conducting an effective extension lectures. The programme concluded with the playing of the National Anthem.
