Dogra College of Education organized the “Student Capacity Enhancement Programme” on life skills on 14/5/2022. The programme began with the presentation of sapling to the resource person followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Ms Gagandeep Kour Lecturer, Dogra College of Education in her welcome address emphasized the importance of the day’s topic and added that such programmes are very important for all-around development of student teachers.
Dr Alka Sharma, Member Counselling Cell (DSEJ) was the resource person on the occasion. In the first session, she discussed the various life skills i.e. self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal relationship required to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life.
Speaking in her second session, she highlighted the importance of various life skills like – effective communication, goal setting, time management, coping with stress and coping with emotions for the holistic development of the students. During the lecture, she focussed on developing the life skills to handle issues and problems commonly encountered in daily life. The lecture was followed by the question-answer session in which the resource person responded to the queries of the students as well as the faculty members. Prominent among others present on this occasion were Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Dr. Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and CD, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education, Dr. Shefali Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education and the faculty members. A vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Priyanka Bendral Lecturer, Dogra College of Education who thanked the revered speaker for delivering a thought-provoking lecture.
The programme concluded with the playing of the National Anthem.
