Dogra College of Education organized an orientation lecture on “Oral Dental Care” on the occasion of World Health Day for the students of B.Ed. course semester 1stand 3rdon 07thof April 2022. The motive of the lecture was to aware the faculty and teacher trainees about the importance of oral dental care. The resource person on this occasion was Dr. Mamta Sharma, (BDS, MDS) Dental Consultant, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College Jammu. The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries followed by the welcome address by Ms. GagandeepKour, lecturer, DCE.On this occasion the resource person in her lecture elaborated on the importance of dental hygiene for the well-being of the individuals. She threw light on good oral and dental care as it prevents bad breath, tooth decay & gum disease and also enhances social interaction and self-esteem. She also explained that adopting good oral hygiene and dietary habits have proven to be essential for maintaining overall physical and emotional wellbeing throughout the life. Director, Dogra Group of Colleges, Dr. Darshana Sharmaexplained the role of conducting such type of lectures in creating awareness among the students and the faculty about the health and hygiene issues. The Chairman, DET, Th. Gulchain Singh Charak in his presidential address emphasizedthe importance of such type of lectures for the welfare of the teacher trainees and faculty members. He further added that Dogra College of Education is committed and will continue to endeavor for the betterment of society. The lecture was followed by an interactive session in which the resource person responded to the queries of the teacher trainees as well as the faculty members. Dr. Vikesh Kr. Sharma Principal, DCE, Dr. Shefali Sharma, Academic Coordinator, DCE, staff members and students were present on the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Priyanka Bendral lecturer, DCE who thanked the esteemed speaker for delivering a thought-provoking lecture. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
