In line with celebration of World Health Day, a visit was organised to Health and Wellness Centre, Kartholi by Eco-warriors Club of Dogra Degree College in collaboration with UBA. The theme of World Health Day 2023 is 'Health for all'. The volunteers of the Eco-warriors Club interacted with the Sarpanch of Kartholi village and the medical team of the health centre. The Community Health Officer Dr. Ruchika Bhatial spread awareness among the local people and volunteers from the college regarding health care, drug abuse, female hygiene and various measures to be taken to prevent various common diseases (hypertension, obesity, cervical cancer, tuberculosis). The main purpose behind the visit was to create awareness among the people regarding their health. As again there is spike in the COVID cases, the people were awared to take precautions regarding it.
As a small gesture, some medicines were donated by the college to the health centre for the distribution to the local people who visited the health centre. Some packets containing sanitizer, soaps and masks were also distributed to the health workers of the health centre. The volunteers were accompanied by their teacher mentors Ms. Palak Gupta (Convener, Eco-warriors Club) and Ms. Preeti Sharma.
The main motive behind the celebration of this day was to create health awareness among the local people of the Kartholi village. Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the initiative taken by Ms. Bela Charak, Principal Dogra Degree College and the faculty members for conducting this event.
