Essay Writing Competition organized by NSS Unit Of Dogra College of Education
NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education organized an essay writing competition in connection with Swachh Sanklap Se Swachh Sidhi in college premises under the supervision of Ms. Nishu Saproo, Programme Officer NSS. The topic of the essay writing competition was "What can I do for a clean India". 25 volunteers participated in the competition, wherein Ms Richa, Ms Meenu Rajput & Ms Kulmeet Kour adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Earlier Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education spell out about Swach Sanklap Se Swach Sidhi, a Govt. of India inventiveness for spreading a message of cleanliness among the masses. He also mentioned that it is the duty of every individual to make the surrounding pure and healthy. Sh. S.C Khajuria, Director Administration and CD of Dogra Educational Trust, Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Academic Coordinator and staff members of the college were also present there.
Dogra College of Education organizes Best Messages Contest on the eve of Teachers Day
A Best Message Contest was organised by Social and Cultural Club of the Dogra College of Education guided by Ms. Shweta Sood and the team of ICFAI guided by Ms. Monika Kaul. On the whole 40 students participated in the competition, where the students wrote the messages in the banner for their teachers, in order to celebrate the teachers day. Dr. Vikesh Kumar, Principal, Dogra College of Education said that, "A good teacher in the life of a student is that who put unconditional efforts and support in shaping and making their students a good human beings along with proper career". The panel of judges included Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Mrs. Indu Puri and Mrs. Vintee Kumari The 1st prize was awarded to Ms. Shikha, IInd prize was awarded to Ms. Niharika and IIIrd prize to Ms. Rajesh.
Orientation programme held in Dogra College of Education
Two day's orientation programme for B.Ed Session 2017-19 of Dogra College of education was conducted in the conference Hall of Dogra College of education. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal of the College. In his welcome address, he gave brief information about the college achievements during last year's and he also shared the information regarding academic rule and regulations of the college. He gave an overview of internship programme of the current B.Ed course by giving details regarding the various activities to be undertaken from time to time. The orientation was followed by healthy interaction where the faculty member delivered the lectures on the curriculum of the two year B.Ed course. The aim of the event was to get the students well acquainted with the Curriculum-cum-internship programme. Vote of thanks presented by Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Academic coordinator, Dogra College of education. In her address she emphasized that teachers are key players in maintaining and improving the quality of education and training system.
Dogra College of Education organized cleanliness cum slogan writing competition
As a part of 'Swachta Pakhwada' launched all over the country, NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education organized three days cleanliness drive and slogan writing competition in the college premises. During the cleanliness drive the volunteers shown the value of cleanliness and donated their handmade dustbins. Volunteers mentioned that it is not only the duty of one but of every citizen to keep the environment pure and healthy. About 30 Volunteers were participated in the slogan writing competition. By making the slogans NSS volunteers spread the awareness about the bad effects of polluted environment and the health related issues. In the slogan writing competition Ms. Suneha Sharma, Ms.Pallavi Sharma , and Ms.Ritika Bangotra bagged with first, second and third prizes respectively and consolation prizes goes to Ms. Preeti Sharma. On this occasion Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust and Sh. S.C. Khajuria, Director Adm. & CD of Dogra Educational Trust were also present. At last Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education admired the efforts of NSS Volunteers for making their society neat and clean.
DOGRA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HOLDS PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY.
On 21st June 2017, Dogra College of Education organized Prize Distribution function for the B.Ed Students in the College Auditorium with pomp and show. Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust was the Chief Guest in the function. The proceedings of the programme began with lighting of the traditional lamp, followed by all religion prayer and various fabulous cultural performances. The welcome address was given by Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education. She appreciated the students for their meritorious achievements and for bringing laurels to the college and also appreciated the college for providing a platform to the students for professing in their academics and co curricular activities. On the occasion, highly attractive and colorful performances were presented by the teacher trainees. The Cultural events were a blend of folk dances, Dogri song, Punjabi song, solo dances, Marathi dance thus making the occasion a memorable one. Prizes were distributed among the meritorious students of the college; Ms Radhika and Ms. Indika Attri for securing 1st and 3rd Positions at the University level in semester examinations. In Sports Category Suneha, Sakshi and Shikha were awarded 1st , 2nd and 3rd prize in one leg race. Suneha, Manu and Geetanjali were awarded 1st , 2nd and 3rd prize in 100 meter race. Similarly Kimmi and Shashi were awarded 1st Prize and Anjali and Reeta were awarded 2nd Prize and Geetanjali and Priyanka were awarded 3rd Prize in three leg race. In Kho-kho game team of 2nd Semester won the 1st Prize. After the prize distribution function, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust, in his address appreciated the hardwork of the students and for successfully completing the academic session. He further said that the students of Final year B.Ed course are inspiration for the junior students of the college and suggested them to be a role model teachers for the betterment of the society and the country. He wished them good luck for the future life. The College Magazine "Shikshak", Vol: 11 was also released on the same day. Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Mrs Bela Thakur, Director Academics, Dogra Educational Trust, Dr. V.P. Mangotra, Principal, Dogra Law College were present on the occasion. Dogra College of Education celebrates Sports Day.
Dogra college of Education celebrated its 22nd Annual sport day held on 10-06-2017 Saturday at the college premises. The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by Ms. Tina Sharma, Convener of the sports committee. She emphasized that sports could play a major role in promoting and propagating peace with an understanding of the spirit of global participation and philosophy of sports. The College Principal declared the sports day opening by hoisting the flag and accepting the march past honors. Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal addressed on the sports day celebration, that apart from imparting academic knowledge to the students, various physical activities must also be encouraged for their overall development. She advised the students not only to participate for the sake of sports day event, if you regularly play games in which you are interested and familiar then teacher trainees can develop themselves harmoniously. At 22nd Annual Sports day, Hundred of students had participated in different games like Kho-Kho, One Leg race, three leg race, Tug of war and 100 meters race. In one leg race Ms. Suneha student of 2nd semester was adjudged 1st, Sakshi & Shikha of semester 2nd were adjudge 2nd and 3rd; In three leg race Kimmi & Shashi of semester 4th were adjudge 1st , Anjali & Reeta of semester 2nd and Geetanjali & Priyanka of semester 4th were adjudged 2nd & 3rd . In 100 meter race Suneha of semester 2nd , Manu of semester 2nd and Geetanjali of semeseter 4th were adjudge1st, 2nd and 3rd and consolation prize was given to Sakshi of semester 2nd . In the end the inter-semester Kho-Kho- game was organized where in 2nd semester was announced as winner, with that inter-semester Tug of war was also played, in which 2nd semester won the game. However, all the winners of the various activities held on sports day were honored by Medals and Trophies. Vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Jyoti Raina, Member of sports committee. All the activities were taken under the guidance of Mr. Vishesh Sharma, Sports In-Charge.
Dogra College of Education organised NSS Camp in Village Dollian, Bari Brahmana, Samba (J&K).
Seven days long annual NSS Camp was organised by NSS unit of Dogra College of Education at Govt. Middle School, Village Dollian, Bari Brahmana, District Samba which began w.e.f. 17.04.2017 and concluded on 23.04.2017. At the end of seven days NSS camp, valedictory function was held in the premises of Govt. Middle School, Dollian, Bari Brahmana. The function started with the welcome address by Ms. Nishu Saproo NSS Programme Officer of Dogra College of Education followed by Camp report. She gave a detailed account of manifold activities organised during the camp. The aim of the camp was to spread awareness among the rural masses and to make them to understand the needs and to identify the problems of the community. During the camp NSS volunteers executed various activities which included literacy survey, plantation drive, cleanliness drive, awareness regarding health issues, yoga asnas, awareness regarding different govt. schemes for rural areas, Campaign on female feticide and pulse polio. Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal Dogra College Education highlighted the role of NSS in developing students personality through community services so that they can acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes. She stressed upon the motto of NSS "Not Me but You", which reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the needs for selfless service. Mrs. Bela Thakur, Director Academics Dogra Educational Trust in her address, commended the efforts of NSS volunteers for making the camp successful. Mr. Ramesh Chander, Headmaster Govt. Middle School, Dollian was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address he stressed upon the need to organise these types of camps and activities to promote social conscious, a sense of responsibility and discipline among the masses. The students of class 6th and 7th of Govt. Middle School, Dollian, Bari Brahmana were participated in drawing competition. Shub Kumari was adjudged 1st, whereas Sundri and Surekha bagged 2nd and 3rd prizes. Similarly in essay writing competition Ms. Muskan was adjudged 1st and Rohit Rajan and Arti Devi picked up 2nd and 3rd prizes. Above all Ms. Pallavi Sharma was declared best NSS volunteer and Ms. Jyoti Slathia was declared best cultural event organiser. Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Sh. SC Khajuria, Director Adm & CD Dogra Educational Trust and Mrs. Bela Thakur, Director Academics Dogra Educational, staff members of the school and community of surrounding areas were present on the occasion. Dogra College of Education held Talk-cum-Presentation on Lives of Women Bharat Ratna Awardees
NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education organized a "Talk-cum-Presentation on lives of Women Bharat Ratna Awardees" on the occasion of International Woman's Day which is celebrated on 8th of March every year. The theme declared by UN for International Women's Day 2017 is " Women in the changing world of work". The function was organised in the Conference Hall of the college wherein the welcome address was presented by Mrs. Indu Puri , Sr. Lecturer Dogra College of Education. In her address she said that international women's day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future. She also said that it is a day when women are recognized for their achievements regardless of division whether national, cultural, economical or political levels. This day also aims to initiate more effective actions to safeguard the rights of the women in the society. Government has also launched many schemes for the betterment of the women folk in the state like "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao", Hunar and Ladli Beti Scheme to empower the women in the society in a long run. Teacher trainees of Semester II gave their presentation on the day, namely : Heena Sambyal presented a presentation on the life of Mother Teresa, Priyanka on the life of Smt Indira Gandhi, Nazia on the life of Aruna Asif Ali, Soni on the life of Lata Mangeshkar, Ritika on the life of Sarojini Naidu and Laxmi on the life of Ms. Subbulaxmi . Presentations for the occasion were prepared by the teacher trainees of Semester IV namely : Rishu, Anjana, Preeti, Parul, Indika, Neelam, Shashi, Shivani, Radhika, Kimmi, Mehak and Geetanjali. The programme was anchored by Richa of Semester II. NSS volunteers also expressed their concern over the various issues and highlighted the problems being faced by the women notably dowry, female foeticide and infanticide. Th. SC Khajuria, Director Administration and Campus Development and Mrs. Bela Thakur, Director Academics Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the efforts of teacher trainees for putting up the day's show and highlighting the achievements and contributions of Indian women of substance. Dogra College of Education organized an Extension Lecture on the topic "Constructivist Approach" by Dr. Jaspal Singh, who is working as a Sr. Asst. Professor in Distance Education Department, University of Jammu. The Extension lecture was started by the welcome address by Mrs. Vintee Kumari, Lecturer in Dogra College of Education. The resource person Dr. Jaspal Singh explained the pupil teacher how they can use the constructivist approach in their lessons, so that the students can learn by doing and make their own experiences with the help of the five "E" components and he also solved the queries of the pupil teachers regarding the conduct of the lessons with the help of examples. Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education emphasized the use of constructivist approach in the real classroom teaching and make stress on using skills while delivering the lesson. She also appreciated the resource person and further said that such kinds of lectures are very important for the development of teacher trainee. Mrs. Bela Thakur, Director Academic and Mr. S. C. Dogra College of Education organized an Extension Lecture on the topic "Poetry, Humour, Creative Movement and Aesthetic Representation as a form of self expression" by Dr. Rita Jitender, who had served as the principal in the Government Colleges of Jammu region. The Extension lecture was started by the welcome address by Ms. Shweta Sood, Lecturer in Dogra College of Education. The resource person Dr. Rita Jitender emphasized on the development of the communication skills through poetry, humour and creative movements. She recited a poem on "Beti Bachao". While reciting the poem it was very evident that one can express the social issues in a poetic and creative manner. It adds to the quality of speech. Developing communication skills in this manner is very important for the teacher trainee. A small act of creativity can change the expression of whole thing. Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education emphasized the importance of creative works in the field of communication and such kinds of lecture are very important for the development of teacher trainee as well as faculty members. FRESHER'S CUM DISPLAY YOUR TALENT PROGRAMME
Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Jammu celebrated its Fresher's cum Display Your Talent programme in the college auditorium with great Pomp and Show.
The proceedings of the Programme began with the lightning of the Traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and the presentation of various cultural items.The welcome address was presented by Ms.Sumity Slathia, Student, Dogra College Of Education. In her address she emphasized the importance and recognition of hidden talents of the students which always contribute to the development of self confidence and self expression.
On the occasion, highly attractive and colorful performances were presented by the teacher trainees. The cultural event was a blend of folk dances and items representing the state of J&K, Punjab and other North Indian States. The display items of talent comprised of solo performances, Dogri songs, Punjabi songs, skits based upon social issues, fusion dance, Punjabi dance, Mimicry, Patriotic group dance. More than 50 students participated in the function to make the occasion a memorable one.
Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and Chairman, Dogra Educational trust was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, the chief guest applauded and appreciated the talent exhibited by the teacher trainees belonging to the different States of India and stated that such programmes enable the students to express their hidden talents in the best desirable way. The Chairman in his address appreciated the teacher trainees for their presentation. Dogra College of Education is committed and will continue its endeavor in training quality teachers from an outside the Jammu region.
Ms. Jyoti Slathia was declared Miss Talented, Ms.Pallavi Sharma as Miss Fresher and Ms.Nisha was declared as Miss Versatile. 2nd Anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
'Dogra College of Education conducted Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' The second anniversary of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' a cleanliness campaign was organized by Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan in College Campus and the surrounding areas of the College in Bari Brahmana. The awareness rally was flagged off by Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust. In his inaugural address he emphasized that the youth of the nation are a force to reckon with and they should set an example before the community by making them aware about the cleanliness. In this campaign the students had shown the importance of cleanliness and donated their own hand made dust bin to the local people to make them aware about the ill effects of polluted environment and health related problems like Dengue, Malaria and Chickengunia etc. Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education appreciated the efforts of the students and their mentors for undertaking the initiatives for such noble task.

In this context two days programme was organized. Campaign on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan wherein 150 students were participated. Seminar on the theme "Eco Friendly Products" was conducted on this occasion wherein 54 students were presented the paper. Ms.Bindu Choudhury, Ms. Pallavi and Ms. Soni of B.Ed. Session 2016-18 (1st Semester) were awarded first, second and third prize respectively by our respected Judges - Mrs.Bela Thakur, Mrs.Vintee Kumari and Mrs.Priyanka Sharma.Students also propagated that it's not the responsibility of Safai Karamcharis or sweepers alone to keep our surrounding clean but every citizen has to contribute in this noble mission. During the rally the students were holding handmade play cards and banners depicting various things related to neat and clean environment.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Mr. Nikhil Gupta Coordinator Dogra Educational Trust, and Mrs. Bela Thakur Academic Coordinator of Dogra Educational Trust. CELEBERATION OF 70th INDEPENDENCE DAY
To commemorate the completion of 70 years of Indian Independence Dogra College of Education organized a debate competition on 29.08.2016 and the topic was "Is youth a icon for change?" and a poster making competition on the theme" Lets live in harmony with nature".
The debate was organized in the college conference hall amid the presence of Mrs. Shefali Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education, Mrs Bela Thakur, Director Academic faculty and teacher trainees of Dogra College of Education. Opening address was presented by principal, Dogra College Education wherein she highlighted the role of youth a change agent in the world's biggest democracy i.e. India. Twelve students were participated in the debate. Six students spoke in favour and six against the motion. "Is youth a icon for change?" The judge of the event were Mrs Bela Thakur, Director Academics, Sr. lecturer Mrs Indu. Puri, and Lecturer Mrs. Priyanka Sharma. The first prize was bagged by Shashi Bharti, the second prize was Indika Attri and the third prize was bagged by Radhika.
In the poster making competition was organized in the college premises. Twenty students were participated in the above said competition. India is a nation of the youth, so the youth of today owes to take the responsibility of taking care of the natural environment so that sustainable development is possible. Keeping this idea in mind the sixteen participants made informative and colourful and reflective posters on living in harmony with nature. The judges for the day were Mrs. Bela Thakur, Director Academic, Mrs. Indu Puri Sr. Lecturer and Mrs. Jyoti Raina, Lecturer of Dogra College of Education. The judges had a tough time deciding the winners namely Shashi Bharti (1st Prize), Kimmi (2nd Prize) and Neelam (3rd Prize).
